Sounds to me like people are getting smarter! And, they have found their joy in NOT going to meetings.

well, our local needs talk was a bit out of the ordinary - normally it's something mundane like improving bible studies.. after harping on about the good things the congregation is doing, we got to the meat.. there are 100 publishers in the cong - 40% of them are irregular meeting attenders.. the elder said that those who are irregular at meetings are also irregular on field service.. he also said the elders would continue to shepherd these ones, yet most of us never get as shepherding call.. he said that those who've lost their joy feel this way because they don't fellowship often enough and lack appreciation for sacred things.. there are those who are liberal, manifest an independent spirit and have worldly associations.. he even said that those who need to hear this counsel are those who are missing.. .
oh well.
i suppose it's good news..

i remember about twenty years ago some teenagers were caught fornicating in one of the additional schools.
the schools were downstairs, essentially separated from the rest of the kh.
they weren't just happened upon, though.
I remember this one pioneer sister in our hall who always had studies coming to meetings. One guy that she brought to the memorial drank the wine when it was passed to him. He took a huge gulp! She was so embarrased. And it was the talk of the cong. for the next little while. I guess they didn't have much else to talk about, so they had to make a big deal out of it. It was pretty funny though.
MMO
then you went with them on their "study", and it was with some dimwitted person who could barely tie their shoes?
or some single parent woman with 5 kids living in a shack?
or some lonely older person that just wants a "friend" to talk to?.
At one point I had quite a few bible studies...not all of them were exactly credible.
I at some point had all the kinds of "study" that you described. I had the ones that always wanted to talk about anything but the bible, the ones that had a zillion kids, the ones that were lonely, the ones that thought I was nice and couldn't say no, the ones that were learning english as their second language and used me to learn english, the ones that were trying to convert me to their religeon...the list continues. Anything to get my time in right? 90 hours was a lot!

Mine would just be plain brown...the color of sh!t. Ha ha.

Ohh, these are great stories everyone!!
One time at our bookstudy a brother said the word "sh!t" in his answer. He didn't even care. He was so worked up I'm not even sure he noticed.
Another time, during a demonstration two brothers got a serious case of the giggles. I mean serious! They were in their 20's or early 30's. The one was trying so hard to control his laughter that when he spoke, it sounded really high pitched, like he had just sucked on a helium balloon. The entire cong. were killing themselves laughing and no one could get the meeting under control. This went on for about 15 or so mins.
Once a sister burst into tears during her comment. She didn't try to control it either. She was loudly sobbing into the microphone. She would apologize and keep on crying...that was awkward!
I remember the whole skirt in the nylons thing a lot actually...it happened to me once as well.
Hmm, that is all I can think of at the moment.
